An exciting start to 2016
New office, new countries, new staff and the new SF1!
Welcome to our first ‘Futurepump News’ newsletter! It’s been a while since we’ve been in touch and given an update of progress. Let’s just say, it’s been a busy start to the year here at Futurepump!
We are now selling more pumps than ever!
We’ve continued working directly with many enthusiastic customers in Western Kenya and have moved our main operations to a new office in Kisumu. Here we can demonstrate the pump on our garden plot and easily distribute to customers all across Nyanza. With demand for the solar pump right across Kenya we are also pleased to welcome new distributors, Top shots Enterprises (Kitengela), Mazop (Kitale) and Magos (Kisumu) who are now selling the solar pump.
New staff!
With increased sales we have been able to expand our team in 2016. In Kenya we welcome three technicians, George, David and Maurice, two sales representatives, Wycliff and Paul and our Customer Data Analyst, Martina. In the UK Helen has joined us to work on M&E and fundraising.
New countries!
We have also partnered with new distributors in East Africa in 2016. With their help we are now bringing solar powered irrigation to Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
The SF1!
To top all this off, we can also announce the new solar pump, the SF1, which will be available soon. We pride ourselves in listening to our customers to look for improvements and have been working hard to include these in the new design.
New features include:
– Robust cage –
– USB charging outlet for mobile phones –
Stories from the field…
Tobias:
‘How did I learn about the solar pump? Oh, that’s an interesting story!’
‘One day I fell asleep on a bus. When I woke up I realised I had missed my stop! I alighted in a place called Kendu Bay and found a car to take me on my way again. Another passenger in the car was a retired school teacher turned farmer. His name was Joshua and he told me all about his amazing solar water pump. A few weeks later, I met with a local leader from Kendu Bay and asked if he knew Joshua. Fortunately, he did! He put me in contact and I was able to visit Joshua’s farm. I saw the pump in action irrigating the vegetables and knew it was exactly what I needed! I ordered one right away and it was installed.’
