Training on the SF1 from Futurepump
Our new distributor in Uganda asked for training on how to market, install and maintain our pumps. Therefore, last week, we (Charles, Kinya and Martina) ventured to Uganda to support SolarNow. This will allow them to really begin selling the Futurepump solar water pumps.
In order to reach the most staff members at different branches of SolarNow we toured around the country in two teams. Our journey started in Kampala where we gave training to technical and service staff from the Headquarters as well as sales and technical staff from 3 different branches. Staff were trained on what the pump can do and what type of customers are the most suitable.
Martina presenting to the groupWe covered benefits, frequently asked questions and sales pitches and then embarked on the technical training. This involved taking apart the pump and practising an installation/demonstration. During training, we from Futurepump are not allowed to touch the pump during the disassembly and reassembly of the pump to see how well the training has been understood. This was great fun especially because everybody actively participated to try and find out the best way to take the pump apart.

This part of the training is really done to make people comfortable with handling the pump as well as improving the understanding of how the pump works. Then some troubleshooting was done with the technical staff that will be involved in minor repairs of the pump when necessary. After these two days we split to better target the smaller branches around the country. Kinya went to Mbarara together with Daniel from SolarNow as Charles and I headed to Kapchorwa with John from SolarNow. At the end of the week we met each other again in Jinja for some final training of two branches.
At the local branches we were able to do practical demonstrations in addition to the previously mentioned training. These branches have a demonstration pump in their shop. As part of the training we practised setting up the pump in front of their branch, it was effective for the sales staff to see the pump in a demonstration setting. What was also fantastic was that in Kapchorwa the sales staff was immediately able to collect some leads and the pump drew a big crowd.

We were also encouraged that there were already interested customers that were almost certain to buy. We decided to give a demonstration to these customers and practice installation with the main technical agents.
Working with SolarNow to install a pump on a farmIt was great to see that our messages were picked up, regarding what the pump can be used for and how to reach the most customers who would benefit from a solar pump. We hope we have been able to provide enough information and practical skills to the staff of SolarNow and are looking forward to selling many pumps to
Ugandan customers.
Thank you for your time, attention and efforts!
