“It’s not a problem: It’s an opportunity”
Sometimes the greatest leaps forward come during times of adversity. In amongst the challenges of the recent months, our team in India has achieved something exciting: the opening of our new factory ahead of schedule.
This new facility unlocks Futurepump’s potential to make solar pumps faster, cheaper and of better quality. Sited on a two-acre campus near Rajkot, Gujarat, the Futurepump Chibhda Factory includes over 1000 sqm of purpose-built buildings, including shop floors, R&D centre, offices, canteen and on-site accommodation.
Group Managing Director Toby Hammond said, “This fantastic partnership with local property developers has delivered a made-to-measure factory for Futurepump to grow into as we expand the business over the years ahead. We’re delighted.”
With the new factory we have tripled production capacity to over 2,000 pumps per month whilst adding in extra layers of exacting quality assurance. A new bespoke R&D centre will accelerate the development of improved pump and component designs.
Futurepump India’s Founder Director, Jitendra Lakhani said, “Completing our factory move during the COVID crisis was a real testament to the India team’s dedication and attention to detail. Once restrictions are fully lifted for all our vendors and distributors, we look forward to putting the new factory through its paces and serving our growing global network of customers.”
Alongside the construction of new buildings, we’re also establishing a small farm at the new factory complex and have planted hundreds of trees on the site. These will naturally be irrigated by Futurepump solar pumps and tended by members of the factory team. The vegetables we grow will be used in the Futurepump staff canteen, and the farm will also act as a test-bed for new irrigation products.
