The year 2023 has concluded, and it has been an extraordinary year indeed! The technological advances, especially with progress made in AI has propelled the globe to next levels. Unfortunately, we also observed the regrettable escalation of conflicts and the distressing consequences of climate change.
Climate change is no longer something we can ignore. We feel like a broken record… but in 2023 we yet again experienced the hottest year ever recorded, which has led to a series of extreme weather events worldwide. From severe droughts to unprecedented flooding. The impact of climate change is undeniable.
For us, this motivates us to create positive change where we can. Throughout this year, Futurepump has been doing continuous production to send solar pumps to countries around the globe and tackle these challenges. We have utilised the knowledge and encounters from this year to drive our efforts for smallholder farmers.
And it’s not only agriculture where we have seen our pumps used to help the environment. A highlight this year was visiting a project in the UK where a freshwater marsh and wildlife ponds are being sustained by the targeted movement of water with our solar pumps. It was really encouraging to see a pump working every day, even in cloudy conditions, and making a tangible difference.
Before we look to 2024, we’d like to share some of our highlights of 2023…
An exciting tour for our employees with distributors to exchange knowledge and experience
Two of our factory team, Bhavarth & Nitin, went on a two week tour to visit farmers and distributors in Kenya, Zimbabwe & Zambia. Not only did they make the local farmers and distributors happy, but they also had the chance to exchange technical knowledge with them. It was a valuable experience for everyone involved, and they can’t wait to share what they learned to us through a video which is coming out soon.
New distributors
This year we welcomed distributors in the UAE and Ethiopia to our network – we look forward to supporting them in providing solar irrigation solutions to farmers across these regions.
Ethiopia especially is an exciting market for us to enter as the announcement earlier this year to ‘ban new imports of petrol and diesel pumps‘ opens up the way for renewable solutions for farmers.
The first solar panels came off our in-house manufacturing plant
We are on a mission to manufacture the highest quality, lowest cost solar pumps possible. Developing our factory in India is essential to this.
In 2023 the first solar panels manufactured by our in-house team have come off the production line. This is a big leap forward in us meeting our goals and the beginning of exciting things to come!

What are we looking forward to in the year 2024?
This year was full of excitement and we have dispatched orders to over 30 countries, but there are still so many regions we have not reached.. Looking forward to next year, expanding our distributor network into unchartered territory remains our main focus. If you know any companies who you think should be distributing Futurepump solar pumps, please send them our way!
Continuous improvement and expansion at our factory are also high on the agenda. Bringing printing and plastics in-house as well as increasing the volume of our own solar panels manufactured will allow us to reach new heights.
