Futurepump has partnered with the Gates Foundation in a critical move to radically transform their manufacturing capacities. The $2.3 million grant funding is dual purpose, for advancing the production line at Futurepump’s bespoke factory in India and tapping into rural entrepreneurial networks to distribute pumps to rural smallholders, helping to make affordable and reliable irrigation solutions more accessible to farmers in developing countries.
Futurepump is not afraid to break the mould. Over the last decade of manufacturing and distributing solar pumps, the company has focused on core principles of efficiency, quality and simplicity. They were the first, and remain as the only, solar water pump manufacturer to provide a 10-year warranty. This funding is the next step on this journey, to tackle the critical challenge of pump cost.
