About the pump
Looking for a low-cost way to move water from a pond, canal or river to your plot? The Futurepump SJ4 is designed for one acre farms with shallow water sources, and it runs on sunlight alone, with no fuel or electricity bills.
The SJ4 weighs around 3kg and is easy to carry to wherever you need it. Setup takes eight simple steps, from unfolding the panel to flicking the switch. It works with hosepipes, raised tanks, low-pressure sprinklers and drip irrigation.
It is built from three main parts: the solar panel, a DC motor and a positive displacement screw pump. It’s robust, and simple enough for farmers to fix themselves.

Powering your pump:
The SJ4 is designed to run on 160W solar. Please power it only with the panel supplied.
Getting the best from your SJ4:
- Prime the pump with clean water before you start, and never run it dry
- Use hose of 1 inch, avoid kinks, and connect no more than 4 sprinklers
- Keep the solar panel and footvalve clean
- When not in use, store the pump indoors or keep it covered
